Bernie McKone. FNZCP, FPSNZ
I am the managing director of Quins and proud that the store has been serving the community for over 100 years. I registered in 1980 and worked in Greymouth on the West Coast and in Dunedin before moving south to Gore for a locum stint in 1993. I started work in Quins in 1985 with the promise of a partnership and have owned the store for over 25 years now. In addition to running the pharmacy I have been heavily involved in the professional bodies, chairing the National Executive of the Pharmaceutical Society of NZ and the chairing the National Executive of the NZ College of Pharmacists. I completed a post graduate Masters in Pharmacy at Otago University in 1996. This year I was named the PSNZ-MIMS NZ Pharmacist of the year.
When not in store, I chair the WellSouth Primary Health Network clinical committee, and am a frequent commentator as Men’s Health Expert on the FarmingShow and Farming Muster rado programmes.
I am a passionate follower of sport and currently am deputy chair of Rugby Southland. ‘Go the Stags!’
