Vitamin Supplements
POOR DIGESTION... Digestion
problems can reduce uptake and absorption of important vitamins, minerals
and other nutrients.
HOT COFFEE, TEA & SPICES... Hot food and
spices irritate the mucous linings of the digestive tract, reducing
production of digestive fluids which reduce absorption.
ALCOHOL ... Alcohol affects the availability of
several essential vitamins including the B Complex and Vitamin A. Excessive
intake causes damage to the liver and pancreas, both organs concerned with
digestion.
SMOKING... Smoking Increases the need for
Vitamin C to detoxify the harmful effects of tobacco smoke which also
irritates the digestive tract.
LAXATIVES... Excessive use of laxatives reduces
the opportunity for absorption.
FAD... Bizarre diets which eliminate whole
food groups can be lacking In vitamins & minerals. Low fat diets may be
deficient in Vitamins A, D & E.
OVERCOOKING... This can damage the
heat-sensitive vitamins and other nutrients. Boiling vegetables will leach
out water soluble nutrients Including B Complex and Vitamin C and many
minerals.
FOOD STORAGE... Freezing foods containing
Vitamin E destroy this important nutrient. Soaking prior to preparation also
leaches out soluble vitamins and minerals.
CONVENIENCE FOODS... Fast or convenience foods,
using highly refined carbohydrates such as white flour, sugar and rice
requires additional B group vitamins to process them to energy.
ANTIBIOTICS... Frequent use of antibiotics
reduces friendly bacterial flora which produce some of the B Complex
vitamins.
FOOD ALLERGIES... Avoiding foods because of
allergic reactions can reduce the availability of essential micronutrients.

CROP NUTRIENT LOSSES... Modern agricultural
methods deplete soils of essential trace minerals.
